Can a manager be a friend of an employee?
Because that type of sharing compromises the manager’s ability to manage and lead, and it impacts the employee’s ability to effectively work with his/her colleagues. It’s critical to remember again that if you are a friend of someone who is at a lower level in the organization, there’s power there to be wielded, and that power must not be abused.

What is the mission of friendshipworks Boston?
Our mission is to reduce social isolation, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston. We accomplish this by recruiting and training volunteers of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds who provide friendship, advocacy, education, assistance, and emotional support.
