Who is eligible to sponsor my friend to Canada?
Unfortunately, a friend does not fall under the “family class” category. The individuals you are eligible to sponsor are your spouse, common law partner, conjugal partner, grandparents, parents, and dependent children. If your relative is of other status than those six mentioned, you are legally not allowed/permitted to sponsor him or her.
How to sponsor an immigrant friend in the US?
When your sponsorship packet is complete, deliver the packet to your immigrant friend. If they are outside of the United States and applying for an immigrant visa, they will submit the packet to the US Embassy or Consulate where they will be completing their visa interview.

Can a friend or family member sponsor an immigrant?
Generally speaking, anyone can financially sponsor an immigrant, whether the immigrant is a friend, family member, employee, or acquaintance. Separately, a family member may petition for a visa or Green Card on behalf of an immigrant.
How can I sponsor a member of my family?
To sponsor a family member’s petition, you’ll need to file Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. This form allows USCIS to recognize your immediate family relationship and must be processed either before the immigrant’s separate application or concurrently with their application.
